Shahriar Nafees Chowdhury Raaz

Shahriar Nafees Chowdhury Raaz is an accomplished academic with a Bachelor of Education and a Master of Education in STEM Education from the Institute of Education and Research, University of Dhaka. He currently serves as a faculty member at the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL), Green University of Bangladesh. Where he is dedicated to fostering innovative pedagogy, enhancing teaching quality, and supporting academic development.

In his academic role, he is responsible for conducting regular classes, designing and administering assessments, and evaluating student performance with constructive feedback.

Prior to his current role, he built a strong foundation in research and academic practice. As an Early Career Researcher under the 3MPOWER project, a collaborative initiative between the Institute of Education and Research (IER), University of Dhaka and The Open University, UK, he worked closely with mathematics teachers in hard-to-reach communities, monitored classroom practices, and conducted qualitative analyses, including photo elicitation. He later served as a Research Associate at the Institute of Education and Research, University of Dhaka, where he contributed to designing research methodologies, collecting and analyzing both qualitative and quantitative data, and generating evidence-based insights.

In addition, he has been involved with the Life is Fun Science Education Program at Agami Education Foundation, which works with underprivileged communities, where he supported interactive learning sessions and teacher training initiatives to promote inclusive and engaging education.

His professional skill set includes communication, project planning, proposal writing, documentation, partner relationship management, project management, and leadership—enabling him to contribute effectively across academic and development-oriented initiatives.

He is also a member of the National Association for Research in Science Teaching (NARST), United States, reflecting his engagement with the global academic and research community.

His research interests span science education and STEM pedagogy, with a particular emphasis on Socio-Scientific Issues (SSI) and the integration of Artificial Intelligence in Education. He is also interested in teacher professional development and the effective use of technology to enhance teaching and learning. His work is driven by a commitment to promoting equity and improving educational outcomes, especially in underserved and marginalized contexts.

Currently, he teaches a range of courses, including CTL 400: Certificate in Teaching Learning, GED 409: Professional Ethics and Environmental Protection, HUM 403: Ethics and Environmental Protection, and PSD 400: Professional Life Skill Development (PLSD).
