DFT

DFT

DFT (Developing Future Teachers) is a structured academic and professional development program initiated by the Center of Excellence for Teaching and Learning (CETL), Green University of Bangladesh (GUB). The program is designed to prepare high-potential students for careers in teaching, research, and academic leadership by equipping them with essential pedagogical knowledge, practical teaching skills, and research competencies.

In response to the evolving landscape of higher education in Bangladesh, the DFT program emphasizes modern teaching practices, learner-centered education, digital instructional tools, and outcome-based learning approaches. It aims to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real classroom application through an integrated model of coursework, micro-teaching, practicum, teaching assistantship, and research assistantship.

The curriculum is organized into thematic modules covering teaching philosophy, pedagogy, instructional technology, academic management, research methodology, and micro-teaching practice. Participants are trained to develop a personal teaching philosophy, understand diverse learner needs, apply effective teaching strategies, design syllabi and lesson plans, and utilize educational technologies for enhanced learning experiences.

A distinctive feature of the program is its blended learning approach, where students engage in both classroom instruction and real academic environments. Under faculty supervision, participants serve as teaching assistants and research assistants, gaining hands-on experience in teaching delivery, academic coordination, and research contribution.

The program runs for one year and is structured across theoretical and practical semesters. Selection is competitive, based on academic performance and language proficiency, ensuring that only motivated and capable students are admitted.

Upon completion, participants receive formal certification from CETL and the Office of the Vice Chancellor, Green University of Bangladesh. Graduates of the program may receive opportunities for adjunct teaching roles, research collaboration, and institutional engagement within the university. The program ultimately aims to develop reflective, innovative, and competent educators who can contribute meaningfully to the future of education and knowledge creation.
